Moms, Dads, Dogs & Design

I’m writing this blog in between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day and very near June 6, better known as D-Day, when my father was among more than 150,000 young Allied soldiers who landed in waves on the beaches of northern France in 1944. Many of those brave men never saw their home again. My father was among the fortunate.

So what’s all this got to do with design? While my parents are on my mind always, this time of year the memories are especially frequent and intense. Besides providing me with a safe and loving home, they also provided me the inspiration for what would become my love for design.

The Keys to Life

Many wise people throughout time have defined the keys to life as people and purpose. If your life includes people you love and passion for your work and/or hobbies, you’re well positioned for a lifetime of happiness, especially if you’re also blessed with good health.

On my website, you’ll find some background information about my mom and dad, whose hobbies and habits inspired me to embrace not just design but redesign. Maybe it’s the time of year. Or maybe since I’ve started creating videos, out of respect I feel one of the first should highlight their influence on my design life. No matter the reason, I invite you to watch the following video. And please share in the comments how your parents inspired you, if you would like to honor them publicly.

But What About Dogs?

So the video was all about my mom and dad. Where do the dogs come in? I can’t say my dogs inspire me about anything related to design, but they certainly are keys to happiness in my life. You can read about Dante and Maggie on the website as well. I’d love to to learn about the pets that help make your house a home if you’d care to comment on them.

Now, what will you do next to love where you live?

Please feel free to reach out to us at The Redesign Habit and ask questions or simply share a project that you are working on or have completed.
