“Color is often a source of anxiety, perhaps because we have so many choices. Imagine entering an ice cream shop with hundreds of flavors available (okay, bad example—that sounds amazing). I have a theory that ‘color stress’ isn’t about too many choices. It’s about too many judges. Some people think choosing colors for their home is like taking a test with their score on display for all to see. I help people choose colors with confidence.”

Sometimes the heart of a home can be found in unusual places…

Style Tip: Look within your closet, jewelry box and home to help define your style. Your previous clothing, jewelry and furniture choices likely indicate whether you prefer clean and simple or detailed and ornate and other style clues. This technique can also shed light on your preferred color palette. If your wardrobe consists of conservative clothes in muted shades, you probably won’t feel comfortable in a room with bold, bright colors and style. Trust your past choices.

“On some level, a relationship exists between you and your home. A well-designed home can be life-giving — capable of making you feel calm, energized, or even inspired. You can create that home, regardless of budget, if you’re willing to explore options, focus and follow through.”

QUICK TIP: When shopping, never rely on your eyes to determine whether a furniture piece will fit in your space. In a large open showroom, the tape measure never lies but your eyes can. Bottom line: Rely on measurements and avoid those “Oh no!” moments.

“Your home should be much more than just a comfortable, functional space. It should be your favorite spot on earth. The best place to just be you.”
