Beautiful and Simple Ornament Wreath
When facing Grinch-like prices around the holidays, we all look for ways to stretch our money so we can be as happy as the “Whos” down in “Who-ville”. And one of the best ways I have found to stretch the dough is to make homemade holiday decorations. It all starts by stocking up on inexpensive supplies.
You might shop for supplies in the holiday sections of local thrift shops and dollar stores. Both should have ribbon, ornaments, gift boxes, candles, and other goodies at good prices. Bigger stores like Big Lots and Walmart often have low everyday prices to fit your needs. And don’t forget to check the sales and find the coupons for Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, and similar specialty stores.
In today’s blog, you’ll learn to deck your halls with a beautiful wreath made of nothing but wire, tree ornaments, and ribbon. The beauty of this project is that it doesn’t take much time, it’s easy to do, and you can customize the colors to fit with any décor.
Supplies
Medium gauge wire (in a pinch you can use wire hangers from your closet). How big you want your finished wreath to be will determine the length of wire. Abominable Alert! Make sure the little hole on the top of your ornaments will fit over the wire you have. Yes… speaking from experience.
Wire snippers strong enough to cut your wire without wrecking your hand.
Ornaments based on the colors, sizes, shapes, and fullness desired for your finished wreath.
Ribbon which you’ll use to fancify your wreath and…put a bow on it (sorry). You can make your own bow or buy a pre-made.
Directions
1. Cut wire to your desired length and loosely form into a circle
2. Feed ornaments onto the wire until you have completed the circle, leaving a few inches at the top to attach your bow
3. Twist the two ends together to secure the wreath
4. Attach your bow using fishline, or yarn or heavy thread that matches your bow color
5. Loop a piece of wire around your circle to create a hanger
6. Find the perfect spot, hang, and enjoy!
Projects don’t get much easier than this one. It’s a great one to do with the “littles” in your family as well. Hope it provides you with a create outlet and helps your home look warm and wonderful this holiday season.
***Special Note: For those of you with an eagle eye, you probably noticed that these are two different wreaths with two different bows and ornaments. They are so easy to make that I have made multiples and have taken the best pictures to use in this post from two different wreaths!
